For many years The Central Gallery & Navajo have been a popular 'Go To' stand at Country Music Festivals and events for their handpicked Native American Jewellery and crafts which they have been sourcing and hand picking in the USA Southwest for their customers since the early 90's.
However, Turquoise is a non-renewable product, and over the last few years several mines producing quality Turquoise have closed. Unfortunately, this is leading to an ever-increasing shortage of all grades of Turquoise. There is easily sourced information on the web covering this subject showing the concern at the effect the closures are having on the industry.
This said, there is still reasonably priced mid-range jewellery available, but the better grades are steadily reaching silly asking prices.
We still have stock of both medium and some higher grades, but as with most Native American Jewellery they are one-offs and once sold we fear that wholesale replacements will not be cost effective. Hopefully the present worldwide situation will allow the industry a breathing space, but at the moment what you see is what we have and once sold there is no replacement at the moment.
The current state of events led us to decide that there comes a day when you must regrettably call it a day and have decided not to return to the festival circuit To our many customers, friends, band members and festival organisers we hope that the spirit the festivals generate will return when the present situation is more settled.
We will continue to maintain our website for the foreseable future but at the moment have only the stock you see.
We hope you like the new website format which is clearer and less cluttered. Its been hard work as everything is completed in house, but as long as I would like to take all the credit, there is a very clever web designer behind the scenes Jenny Hanson. Some sections are still work in progress and there will be mistakes you come accross and if you do just drop a line telling me where please.
